Areas of Interest
For me, film and photography are a form of therapy. I use them as a way to rifle through my thoughts and obsessions and to push myself to work through them. This tendency has led me towards essay film as my preferred form, but I am also exploring photography. My interests currently lie in the quotidian, the beauty and turmoil of ordinary life, but this focus spreads into other areas of interest such as womanhood and motherhood, nature and its presence in human lives, and time and mortality. All this to say that my curiosities are far-spread and mixed!
Skills and Aspirations
Having studied film in college, my skills lie heavily in the audio-visual. I am proficient in many areas of the filmmaking process from planning shoots to operating cameras and microphones to editing. My personal aspirations center around filmmaking and leading my own projects. However, my professional aspirations trend more towards supporting other artists in their process and assisting in the development of their ideas. As the Educational Associate for the Cinema & Media Studies department at Carleton College, I have had the opportunity to develop this skillset with young filmmakers, but I would love to expand to working with more established artists.
